It does not matter what side of the border you are on or what part of the world that you come from, there are significant similarities in the stories and experiences of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women around the world.
As a result, our organizations are seeking to build global solidarity with currently and formerly incarcerated women and girls, family members, and movement family in order to raise awareness about the global increase in the incarceration of women, the effect on their children and communities, and the need to reallocate funding from prisons to investing in the health and wellbeing of women and children through an abolitionist lens.
The International Network of Formerly Incarcerated Women is now in more than 25 countries around the world, and we are continuing to grow.
We invite formerly incarcerated women and girls around the world to join us in this effort. We are firmly committed to language justice and will be including additional languages on the website. We include all those who self-identify as women and girls and gender non-conforming people.
